I think I have one tail number (N383AM). I'd liketo get all of them in upstate NY so I can detect when a flight is in the air (via Planeplotter).

Unsure how I think I have at least that one....

Thanks!

A good place to start is by searching the Internet for photos and video of the medevac units, where the tail number is almost always easily visible. Compare them with FAA registry and you should be able to compile a good list.

You can get all that information from the FAA database. You can do a lookup on the owner, AIR METHODS CORPORATION and it will return all aircraft registered to them. Below is an example

FAA Registry - Aircraft - N-Number Inquiry

That doesn't do much good for finding local registrations, since all 318 results for Air Methods point back to their headquarters in Colorado. There is no data on where the aircraft are actually being used.

It's more useful for verifying the current status of aircraft once you've obtained a tail number.

I'm looking for all Upstate/Northern NY aircraft. Of most interest is Capital Region ambulances. The reg I have (N383AM) I see flying to Albany Med and around the region. I just now see N535LN on the LifeNetNY web site so that's a help too. I believe there are two aircraft there.

I may just drive down there and take a look (hoping of course that no one is in need of one...).

Great help! Will advise what I find out here.

You can add the following to the Life Net aircraft.

N557AM
N118NY
N705KC (fixed wing)

Rich

Edit: By the way, if you have a UNIDEN DMA scanner (BCT15*, BCD396*, or BCD996*)
I can add a programming file here that you can import with FreeSCAN to program your scanner.
Or, if you like to type, ;) I can post a txt version of it.

I have a Uiden BCD436HP with DMA installed. Use FreeScan as well as Butel ARC536. Would love the file, thnx!

Correction, I use Sentinal and ARC536. I tried FreeScan with an older unit I no longer have

The attached zip file contains two Uniden USD files that can be imported into FreeSCAN.

The first two digits represent the SYSTEM QUICK KEY.

84a Medevac.USD covers all the Medevac Frequencies I'm aware of.
09 LifeNet.USD is the above file trimmed down to only the most active frequencies in my area.

There's also an HTML file that will display the contents of each file in your browser.
You can COPY/PASTE from there.

Most frequencies have the PL/DPL associated with them.
However, many are duplicated WITHOUT PL/DPL because I've found that aircraft outside of their 'normal' areas often use NO tone on those frequencies.

Though that will mean in your area, you may have interference from other agencies.
You'll have to lock those out if you want to eliminate the extra chatter.

Rich

Edit: I should have mentioned that every one of my programming files has a 'JUNK GROUP' with no Group Quick Key assigned.
1245.00 MHz with PL.
That is so I never have a problem with locking out all Groups in any system and avoids the 'NOTHING TO SCAN' problem.

Here's an example of PlanePlotter alerting on N705KC. Just FYI...

The aircraft seem to rotate occasionally. I have put operator flags on the NY birds, but every so often the IDs change.

EDIT: I used to have a list of tail numbers and identifiers, but I can't find the file now. I might have deleted it after realizing the above.

Dave,

The Hackensack-1 (AirMed 1) no longer utilize the Med 9 and 10 pairs. Entirely too unstable. They are using only the 478.2375 pl 131.8 repeater with the MotoTRBO patch when on the ground.

Thanks for the update. Do you have any of the relevant data on the TRBO side?

EDIT: I see I inserted the placeholder for 7-11 out of sequence. Yes, I really can count. LOL.

Wow, guys; not to continue the hijack of the thread - since it is about tail numbers, but I thought we took care of this on another thread a couple of months ago. In addition to the deletions Chris mentions above...

#1 - Mobile Life Support Services has gotten itself out of the medevac business when the DSP's LifeGuard18 shut down the medevac portion of its operations (1H18 still flies law enforcement missions). Therefore delete the references to 155.2950 for them in Misc Medevac 7.

#2a LifeNet's Air 2 is no longer in Newburgh. It's now out of Kobelt Airport in Wallkill (Ulster), NY. Therefore delete all the MED-CH references for them and replace it with 451.5250 (D143).

#2b The MED-CHs formerly associated with Air 2 should be listed similar to the way Syracuse is handled:

AirCom Valhalla (or Westchester Medical Center, if you prefer) 463.0000 (179.9) bases
AirCom Valhalla 468.0000 (179.9) medevacs

#3 I was left with the impression the last time we all spoke about this that 465.8875 (D343) was used by the medevacs to talk to AirCom at Harris/Catskill Regional MC and that AirCom answered them back on 460.8875 (D343) and that 454.0625 was no longer used at Potsdam or Dexter (and that 451.5250, D743 was the correct Dexter channel).

#4 Is Glen's frequency confirmed? All of my notes show 155.265 for that site.

Guys, considering how often medevacs are buzzing around above us, I thought we would have had a pretty good handle on all of this by now.
