Lightning Arrestor Question

Hello,

I recently received a huge discone antenna for christmas and I have it installed but not hooked up for the simple reason of not having a lightning arrestor installed. Anyone know of any good in-line arrestors that I can purchase for this antenna, and how much sensitivity will I loose with my scanner reception. Also, how greatly will my reception increase with this antenna rather than the rear of unit antenna that was supplied when purchased. The antenna is on a 20ft. mast ontop of my house where I hada 30ft cb antenna mounted.

Im using RU8X coax with this antenna, with corresponding pl-259 connectors, the lightning arrestor will have to use those connections.

Be sure and check out their tech info section. Figure about $50-$75 for a new in-line, but there are a lot of them available surplus. I've paid as little as $5 at a ham radio swap meet.

As for reception, you won't know it is there.

Don't forget to ground the mast. This is required by the NEC and many insurance
companies have not paid off on claims due to this common overlooked practice. It is
for your own protection and is in the best interest of your pocketbook.
