Things are heating up this afternoon in the Sierra, with lots of lightning strikes. My lightning tracker in San Luis Obispo has detected > 300 strikes, while one in Las Vegas has >4,700 (a lot in AZ).
This Southwesternweather.net WASP2 animation shows the last hour of triangulated strikes with NEXRAD overlay. Not every strike is shown, but where they are, you can bet there are more.
