LIMERICK, IRL -- A new digital [TETRA] Garda radio communications system has gone live in Limerick for the first time.

Yep. This has been a while in the happening, they've been training for ages on it and it's well over due given the level of trouble with organised crime in the city. So Dublin, Cork, and Limerick are now on TETRA but some smaller cities and rural towns don't have it yet.

How is the radio coverage so far? Any dead spots? The US utilities (Electrical, Gas, and Oil) are interested in the Tetra technology but it's currently not Type approved for use here. Many are on the 936-937Mhz band which has limited channels. Tetra would really come in handy.
