I bet it's going to Harris 800mhz P25 simulcast. I don't believe Harris supports EDACS anymore and RACOM is migrating to P25. Some of the radios they have now might do P25.
A little bird said they are in the shopping stage and might be looking at a Motorola P-25 system 700/800 Mhz.
They probably have radios that are P25 800Mhz capable. M/A Com (Now Harris) did manufacture radios that could do EDACS, Provoice and P25.
N-WIN, as it is now, would not be able to handle the amount of radio traffic Lincoln/Lancaster County has. Plus a VHF trunking system is not ideal for an urban area. Also they probably could get a deal from Harris to upgrade their equipment to P25. Yes it probably will be simulcast.
Why do you make the statement that VHF trunking is not ideal for an Urban area? Not sure what your basing that stand on. Please elaborate to the group why your saying that.
Also lincoln has 20 channels on 800, where are you going to find 40 VHF channels? 40 channels due to VHF has no standard input/output pairs.
Irv 43 is also correct on noise floor even in rural area there is still issue.
