• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just seeing if anyone has installed any radio equipment in the Lincoln MKS. I got a '13 looking to install a dual band vhf uhf radio in. Any pics or tips of the install would be great! Planning on doing 1 nmo in the roof. Thanks!

The MKS is the built on the same platform as the 6th gen Taurus, you may be able to find some more information searching for that.

I had a 2013 Taurus and this is how I mounted my Kenwood TM-D710. The mount was permanently attached to the dash with the mounting screws hidden by the center channel speaker grill. Not sure if the non-Sony equipped versions had that extra grill though. There is enough dead space behind all of the audio stuff to run cables.IMG_0211~2.jpgIMG_0212~2.jpg

Haha. Yeah. The car was a little upset I was doing surgery like that along with a NMO in the middle of the trunk lid. It paid me back by having a crappy version of Sync.

I am a lineman for the county.
It paid me back by having a crappy version of Sync.

Whoever the he77 at Ford that thought having a system by Microsoft was a good idea needs to have their head examined. I had it in an old truck at there were times that I'd have to:
1. stop the truck
2. shut it off
3. get out
4. pull the fuse
5. count to 10
6. reinstall fuse.
7. get back in the truck.
8. Start it back up.

Then Sync would work. They eventually fixed it with a software update, but it was typical Microsoft. They should have installed a Ctrl - Alt -Del button on the radio head. Rest of the truck was spot on perfect, but the Sync was a p.i.t.a.

I've got an F350 that I removed the radio head and found a lot of space behind it, including unused mounting studs. I was able to install the Motorola large remote speaker back there. If you ever decide to do surgery again, try removing the screen and see if there is usable space behind it.
