LINN COUNTY - A new internet based communications system will connect emergency responders throughout the county to each other, no matter what radio networks they operate.

Jim Houser, Linn County supervisor and chairman of E911 Services Board, announced on Friday that Linn County is the first county in the state to implement internet protocol based interoperability system. The system will allow first responders from police, fire, EMS and emergency management to directly talk with each other without each agency having to change their radio systems.
