Hi,
since I can't reply on
@richardrosa on his thread
ICOM IC-R30 USB issue I'm wondering if some know if it's possible to program an IC-R30 from a Linux host.
Regards
Yes, it is possible to program the R30 using Linux. I have done so successfully.
However, there are some issues:
1) The Linux driver for the USB hardware that the radio uses has a bit of a problem. Some additional commands are needed to get it to work. I've been meaning to post a bug-report to the folks that support the driver, but have not been able to find the time to do so.
The command sequence needed is:
sudo rmmod cdc-acm
sudo modprobe cdc cdc-acm
sudo echo 0c26 002b 2 076d 0006 >/sys/bus/usb/drivers/cdc_acm/new_id
2) There do NOT appear to be ANY CI/V commands available to directly write to the memory channels
(at least none that are documented). The only way I have found to load the memory channels is to write to the SD card
when it is in the computer, and then press a LOT of buttons on the radio to store the files into the memory locations from the reinserted card.
Other functions (such as setting frequencies and monitoring signal) work OK.
Hopefully, this information helps.
