I own ProScan and use it often to listen to the stream of my SDS200. However the PC’s hard drive crashed and im waiting on a new one. While I wait, I tried to stream without ProScan with VLC but have not been able to do it. I tried a few suggestions in the forums but I think they all require ProScan. I just have the scanner in a different room and wanted to stream from a different part of my house. The other part of the house is better for the reception but all of the comfy chairs are in a different part lol. Thank you all!

Are you looking to just stream audio or stream & control? Proscan's your best bet for the latter. Numerous apps on the interwebs can stream audio only albeit you'll need to connect an 1/8 to 1/8 audio cable from your SDS200's headphone port to your sound card. You'll need software of some sort to host the stream, no way to do it direct from the SDS200 without an app or additional hardware. RadioFeed is Proscan's free audio streaming app. Icecast might work too

Perhaps a Bluetooth audio transmitter like this one may work if you're looking to stream audio to a speaker in another room.

Use VLC and point to your scanner, no need for any additional cabling or other software.
Code:
rtsp://192.168.1.5/au:scanner.au
replace 192.168.1.5 with the IP of your scanner.

I tried that before I posted and it vlc complains it cant open the stream. Is there something I need to enable in settings? this is all via my lan, so its not a firewall issue.

Just stream via my lan...in my post I indicated I own proscan and use it, just that computer is waiting on a hard drive as it crashed... the drive is under warranty, so in the mean time I just wanted to stream ... Also, I do software development for Mac/IOS and I might want to write something similar to proscan but for the Apple folks. I know there is one app out there that does a few things. Being retired I have time now to write more things :D
