Hi there,

I'm fairly new on the site, been listening to the West Metro Fire feed on my phone for a year or so and am hoping to pick up my own scanner. Reading the forums I've seen a lot of discussion about simulcast problems (not necessarily in CO, but in general), and wanted to see if anyone has experience listening in Jeffco.

I'm near Kipling & Bowles, and am mainly interested in Jeffco Sheriff & West Metro Fire for now, though I'll expand more as I find things. I'm looking at the PSR500 scanner. I'd like to use it as a mobile unit and not have to rig up a yagi to get a good signal or that kind of thing.

Any tips? Anyone in the area who can give some anecdotal evidence as to whether I'll be able to pick up much of the DTRS stuff with a handheld, or will it be an exercise in frustration?

Thanks!!

The PSR500 will work just fine for you. In fact, you will be able to monitor the entire metro area with it. If you do pick one up, come by my RadioShack and I'll program it and get you started.
