I sustained a lightning strike last Thursday during a fast moving and pretty intense storm. My main ADSB antenna (DPD) took a hit, and the top exploded - I found pieces on the sidewalk and front lawn. The LNA absorbed the charge and also fried, arcing to the balcony railing and the power adaptor burned. My ICOM IC-R8500 is damaged and won't turn on. Voip phone is dead and the ADSB computer also sustained fatal damage - fortunately the hard disk survived. I've recovered the PC into a new chassis and I am running ADSB through the discone - which took a hit, but is still somehow working. Reception is far below what it used to be. Orders for replacements are inflight and should be here at the middle of the month.

That why it's good to upplug stuff ftom AC power during storms. Plus disconnect the antennas from radios. Might have still lost the antennas, but all tbe other stuff would have been to go.

During storm season always make sure is disconnected when going out or when storms are in area.

I can listen to handheld radios on battery power during storms.

I was at the office when it hit. The report from home was that this sounded like an explosion.
