Listening to "banned" talkgroups

I thought a perk of providing traffic to Broadcastify Calls was being able to listen to my talkgroups that aren't available to the general public. I tried listening to my node but I don't hear everything that I hear on SDRTrunk. Based on what I've read, that's because duplicate traffic that another local provider feeds to his node won't be heard on my node.

It appears that @blantonl wants to stear folks away from listening to their nodes so I made a playlist that included several of my talkgroups that are "banned" from public broadcasts. Sadly, those banned talkgroups aren't played on my playlist.

There doesn't seem to be a practical way of doing this with Broadcastify. Am I missing something?

Did you create the playlist as private or public? If it is set to public (submitted so anyone can listen to it) the TGs that the TOS doesn't allow will not be heard, if you set it as private (not submitted and only available to you when you are logged in) you will have access to all TGs. At least that is how my playlists have worked.

@RaleighGuy - I don't see an option for setting my playlists to private or public. If setting a playlist to private allows access to all my TGs, I'd appreciate instructions on how to do so.

I have another question for you (or anyone who happens to read this): I understand that playlists are limited to 30 TGs (formerly 20 TGs). That's awesome but I usually listen to more than 30 TGs. I can set up 2 playlists but is it possible to listen to both simultaneously?

As I said in my last post, submitting them to be public makes it public, if you create it and do not ask for it to be public then it is considered private. I have several public ones and two that are not public (submitted).

Sure, create two playlists and open each one in a separate browser tab.

Thank you, sir. I didn't submit my playlists so they must be private. However, my non-TOS talkgroups are absent when listening to my playlist.

Oh well, I can always go back to listening to ALL my talkgroups via Rdio-Scanner. I was hoping that feeding the node would be a win-win scenario.

One of my Playlists has TAC TGs which can't be on the other lists, so I do not know why it isn't working for you.

Thanks again. I'll keep at it. As a last resort I can submit a support request.

That's great. I'm glad yours is working. Unfortunately, mine is not. I'm hoping someone here can shed some light as to why.

@N8RXX What is your calls feed? If you go the calls dashboard, do you see the yellow manage button? If not, you are probably not logged into the Broadcastify site, it should be the same login as here. If you do, you can click that then the lightning bolt to take you to the live calls. Do you hear them in there? (I know that isn't the preferred way to listen by Lindsay but just want to see)

Once you get to that page and everything is there, there is a systemwide button you can click that is the preferred way. And even the playlist you create, you have to be logged in as the user you created the node from. So if you have 2 login's and you are not logged in to the site with the node admin, you won't hear them.

@rjdj2000 - Thank you for your help!! My Calls feed is on node 3200. I am definitely logged into my Broadcastify account. I've added some "Hospital" talkgroups and I'm hearing them on my playlist. I don't believe they are allowed for public broadcast so I guess it's working properly. I still haven't heard any of the Law Tac talkgroups I added. We have several of those on our local system that I hear regularly on my private SDRTrunk feed, which perplexes me.

I'll try to listen to my playlist tomorrow at work. Hopefully, I can confirm that the Law Tac talkgroups are playing for me.

Thank you again! :)

I spent several hours monitoring my playlist today and finally started hearing the Law Tac talkgroups. Mea Culpa and thank you for all the guidance!

Hey that's good to hear! Sometimes it's hard to catch them if you are not watching it. Glad it is all sorted out.
