I am located in Middlesex County, NJ. Is it possible to tune into the NJSP? If so, what is required? These P25 Systems are for the birds. The old Analog Systems were much better in my opinion!

The users of the P25 System in my area are a bunch of idiots, you can't even understand them when they try to transmit. They are a Joke!

So how do you tune in to them?

I do own a Uniden P2!

Help is appreciated much!

Sounds like its not possible to tune into the NJSP with a Uniden 325P2 Scanner. Is that correct? Why did I buy the P2? Its a digital scann

The uniden SDS series handles simulcast and multiPath transmission interference much better than the other scanners you're mentioning. In order to receive these type of systems correctly you will need this specific type of digital p25 scanner, or a professional radio

Your milage my vary with the P2 scanners. Where I'm at the 996P2 scanners work great as base station receivers. Not so good when I go mobile. Thats where the SDS scanners and commercial type radios shine.

The older P2 scanners worked well when the sites were all ASR's or separate sites. Once they started merging into cells and becoming simulcast, thats when the simulcast distortion came into play and folks heading to the SDS scanners.
But...you can still use an older P2 scanner provided you are very close to a site and wont pick up the simulcast interference. So dont rule it out just yet

While the G4 is a great receiver, there is one caveat: It is not a scanner.

Yes, the superiority of the Unications is never disputed, but have they added serious recording functionality to any of their receivers yet? That's what I love most about my SDS100 (well, that, and the relative ease and convenience of programming)- I can leave it recording NJICS for months at a time. Whenever I have some free time, or hear/see some activity, I can get up to speed on what's been happening in my town.
