I listen to my scanners most nights of the week at work. Only one guy ever complained and it was the squelch tails and fragmented communications that bothered him, not the listening itself. He's been gone a while now, so most nights one or more radios is sitting here running.

If Sandra is going to her headphones while filing, I should be able to listen to the radio while I'm collating...

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...

Hello,

Using headphones can also be seen as a safety issue. The employer can claim that the employee can not hear any alarms or important announcements.

I don't know about that when our company.s fire alarms go off there is a strobe light show throughout the work floor no way one can miss a fire alarm.

There are mono earphones which are single sided with a 3.5mm jack commonly available, that work great with a scanner too. 73, n9zas

Wireless Bluetooth earbuds. Keep the scanner tucked away in a drawer. Who could know what you're listening to? If someone asks, tell them you're rockin' out to The Clash.
.

How are you running blue tooth ear buds soon I'm about to test a blue tooth shoulder mic/speaker when it comes in from China. No worry I'm already labeled for black marketing but oh well price was good and chances just about everything we own comes from there.

. Bluetooth adapters which plug right in to any scanner are available almost anywhere here in the U.S. Quality bluetooth receivers are at Walmarts everywhere too. I use a Plantronics M70 which is small, lasts for 11 hours on a charge and will handle 2 devices at once.:). 73, n9zas

What blue tooth adapter you have on the scanner. I tried one but doesn't connect to my blue tooth speaker I currently have. Thanks for the prompt answer.

I have an Extreme mini adapter designed for bose headphones, but work great with my m70. I think Sportys pilot shop still sell them, where I ordered mine. $20 or so. If you google " bluetooth adapters for radio" theres tons of them. 73, n9zas

I worked in a large distribution center years ago and they prohibited any type of music headphones or earbuds because they said it kept people from hearing warnings, alarms, forklift horns, etc. but they highly recommended earplugs to block out the noise :/

Most of my jobs have been security and public safety positions and they didn't mind scanners because it helped us monitor situations where police and fire were involved either in response to our location or active incidents in our immediate area.

I think most employers don't seem to mind, unless they outright prohibit personal radios, as long as you keep the volume at a reasonable level and it doesn't interfere with your job duties.

I work in a warehouse environment, and wear my bluetooth and a company uhf talkie. My bluetooth doesn't draw attention usually, then again I often have a watch cap on so its not really visible. ;). 73, n9zas
