Hello all,

I'll be passing through your great state in late October and I'm starting to program my scanner. I will be along I-95 and was wondering what GSP frequencies are needed. This area is in Troop I, specifically GSP Posts 11, 23 and 42.

The only thing I could find in the database are the talkgroups from the SEGARRN system for Posts 11 and 42. Where can I find Post 23 and does GSP use any UHF/VHF?

Thanks!

It's VHF, which means if you are not in line of site of the GSP cars, you won't hear them. You are advised to follow the speed limit and watch Google maps for traffic back ups. Take if from a Georgia traveler.

Have a safe and fun trip.

here you go outside of the three areas listed everything is VHF-HI

GA Department of Public Safety Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Wasn't sure if that listing was for just the Atlanta area or not. Thanks.

The ATL area monitors who are replying are WRONG. I listen daily to the SE Georgia GSP Posts, they are mostly on SEGARRN along I-95 and I-16. You can hear them on 700 MHz P-25 Troop I is dispatched from Brunswick by remotes. Post 42 identifies as Rincon GA (used to ID as Savannah) Post 11 identifies as Hinesville, you often hear the same dispatcher's voice seconds apart 'cause he is not in either spot.
Also be in Advised that in SE GA we also have our own Nighthawk unit of specially marked cars, the Troopers assigned to the Nighthawks have special training in dealing the drunk offenders. You may also hear 4 digit Motor Carrier compliance officers who are similarly dispatched by GSP on the P-25 system.

Drive safely!

MORE: Post 23 in Brunswick is beyond my range and I cannot hear them directly from my location.
You can tell where the GSP is beyond line-of-sight by observing their 10-81 verbal reports to their dispatcher every few minutes. On SEGARRN he 'should' already know from the GPS equipment but 10-81 is still routinely conducted.

SCMPD (Savannah metro PD) and the various county units also patrol the highways that pass through their areas and can generally intercommunicate with GSP either directly or thru their dispatchers.

No, GSP in atlanta is on the Atlanta DTRS

But once you get into Cobb County, it's on the Cobb DTRS.

For I-95, use the SEGARRN network, also plug in:

154.680 Base
154.800 Mobile

Those are the statewide frequencies for GSP. Don't forget to monitor:

154.905
154.935
155.370
155.475

First two are State/SO inter/intrasystem, the third is an unofficial chit-chat and of course the last is the NLEFC where they can talk as well.

Gee, how things change... When I lived in Liberty County you would be "passed" on the highway by the cops when going ten miles over the limit... except for Hinesville (city) and Ludowici (city).
