update on the Colebrook 6 PM tone tests

heard today Oct 1 2020 Thursday at 6 PM via Colebrook FD feed at Broadcastify

"standby for radio check" - said 4 times - maybe once each on 4 different bases

2 tone sets - 1 second first tone followed by 4 second second tone - "test on Holden Hill Backup for Colebrook FD"

3 tone sets - test on Holden Hill for Colebrook FD and Beecher Falls (VT) Fire and Rescue

2 tone sets - test on ?Ben Yur Hill? for Beecher Falls and Pittsburg FD

3 tone sets - test on ?Galloway? for Pittsburg and Errol

bottom line - 4 FDs - 2 states at least - Beecher Falls also has a first due area in Canada I am sure - and maybe Errol covers into Maine - which would be 3 states and 2 countries

It sounds like you were listening to the 6 PM tone tests. They transmit on 155.055 and receive on 153.755. They also transmit on 153.755 and receive on 155.055, all use 71.9. Errol is apt to cover Wilson Mills, Maine, which just sold all of it's fire equipment and building. Also, it's Ben Young Hill and Magalloway Mountain. Beecher Falls covers places across the Canadian border. Sometimes they use a transmitter on Sable Mountain in Averill, Vermont. It must be solar powered as there isn't power near that rural mountain.

Was looking for the Lat/Lon of the Averil site to see what GoogleEarth had, and could not find any FCC license
Only VT site for Colebrook Dispatch is from Lemington...

Not sure it clears anything up, but talking to a dispatcher there a few years ago, they cover 1,600 Square Miles in NH, VT (maybe Maine), and Canada. They handle or at least have extensive interaction with US Border Patrol up there as well. Coverage is very difficult from what she said and a utility company assists them w/Quebec 911 calls in French.
