Little help with a 996t plz

First off love this unit as a base im getting great coverage, pulling in stuff from at least 80 kms away,
my question is i bought her on here and it has the members name on the screen when it first boots up lol not that theres anything wrong with that just want to change it to my own name lol any help??

I don't remember right off how I did mine, It may have been using the UASD software like I did with my 246.

the only way i know of is to use bctool or some other software.i did not see anything in the manual but i might of overlooked it.

the guy that sold it to you could probably send you the usad software he got with the scanner and use that to change the Text

You can go here to get bcTool
bcTool

Start bcTool,
Select RADIO at the top
-> Radio Settings

Change the opening message to anything you want.

Then hit OK. All done.

You can do that with FreeScan as well. We host the user manual in our wiki...you can change the startup message here...

Just re-register the 996 on MyUniden, then download the UASD version for the 996. You'll need to do the registration part anyway, in order to get any future firmware updates.

However, as noted by the other responses, BCTool & Freescan can also change the text if that's your only concern for now.
