Hey Guys!,

I contacted RR audio admins via email with no response so I thought I'd ask on the forums..

Just a quick question about the external media player links for feeds. Do they change on a daily basis so people can't connect directly to the stream and bypass Radio Reference. I thought I read somewhere that they do change on a daily basis but a search could not find it. If a feed provider uses these links instead of the embedded web player method would this be against RR TOS?

If it does turn out to be a violation of the TOS, one work around would be to have your own server from a company such as Voscast that you stream to. Radio Reference can then link to your server in order to relay to their audio server. You can then use any media player that you would like and not be in violation.

We have used Voscast for quite some time and have been very pleased with their service. But the downside is going this route you will need to pay a monthly fee. Granted it's only $6.95 a month for a server that gives you unlimited listeners, unmetered bandwidth, etc. But not everyone is wanting to pay when you can just stream directly to RR for free.

The links to the M3U, ASX, etc. files do, but the mount points contained in them don't change frequently. I keep a folder with M3U files for feeds I access most frequently so that I can open them quickly in Winamp, and they haven't yet quit working.

For example, the M3U file that one would download to listen to my feed is located at this moment at "http://www.radioreference.com/scripts/playlists/1/1086/95329-5295607852.m3u". That link will be invalid soon. However, the mount point linked to by that file is "http://relay.radioreference.com:80/912563219", which has been constant for quite some time, so the M3U file will work so long as you keep your own copy of it.

I have no e-mail from you re this matter so I do not who you wrote.

The player links do not change.
There are many feeds that I listen to that are stored as bookmarks in WinAmp & Recieve. These links have been stored for a long time.

Thanks I kind of thought that was the case.
