I frequently listen to the live feed of the county in which I live. There is one big problem that I would like to try to fix. The feed includes many different frequencies from many different counties and a lot of the time there is a lot of walk over and a lot is missed. What can I do to remedy this problem? I have a specific frequency I would like to get in a feed of its own but I am new and have no idea where to start. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Jeff

Your best bet is to contact the feed broadcaster, if possible, and see if he/she is willing to trim down the number of counties and/or frequencies being scanned. Seems logical, espiecially if these other counties are covered by other feeds. RadioReference does not own very many of these feeds; they mainly come from private parties and they are the ones (subject to RR's terms of service) that are in control of which agencies are being broadcast.

As far as setting up your own feed, you need a dedicated scanner/receiver, and a computer and internet connection that is always on. Second you need to apply for a feed through Radioreference and wait to be approved. Lastly, download Scannercast (a lot of people on here use this software); you can google it. Should be fairly easy from that point, but a lot of people are here to help.

I had listeners give this same feedback about covering too much on my FEED. I set up a 2nd feed with limited traffic for the county and guess what! Thats right the feed with more traffic gets more listeners. True you may miss a dispatch or two covering more areas, but, you also provide more coverage for more people that way. The ONLY true way to just get the stuff you want to hear is to buy and scanner and program it the way you want it. Otherwise you have to listen to what the feed owner provides. I am fortunate in that RR allows me to do BOTH kinds of FEEDS here in this county so I can provide whichever kind of feed is preferred. RR does a great job and they really have very little control over what a feed provides as long as it complies with their TOS.
