milf,
Great job on the live scanner-your input on the board is always of value......I am from Adams County, could you comment on the MHP in or around Natchez and Brookhaven-----does the MHP have a way to send a broadcast from Brookhaven to a car in the Natchez area.....Can I receive Brookhaven MHP in Natchez on my scanner or do they turn on some kind of repeater on and off in that area....I believe they have a repeater in the Doloraso area which is north of Natchez----do you know the frequency for that repeater??????Anything of value would be appreciated.....Thanks

Not Milf but yes Brookhaven MHP does have a repeater tower in Adams Co. and it operates using District 9 regular frequencies of 42.08, 42.30, 42.20 (private car 2 car) and you might want to also put in 45.32 which a MHP repeater statewide freq.

Brookhaven MHP to communicate with their western units does activate the tower in Adams Co. to do so. I hope this helps.

I think you are right. I think they activate that tower when they know that the unit is on that side of the district.

With my home scanner [780] I hear, for instance, "Brookhaven all units; the radio will be 10-6 a few." I hear it twice. Once over the East side tower quit strong and then a little weaker from the Natchez tower.

They uses the repeater as a glorified car to car 80 percent of the time, but do use it when the main tower goes down for repairs, etc,...

As for picking up in Natchez, MHP has satelite towers all over the district and using both microwave, and landline can switch to the tower where the unit is calling from. Also dont forget the UHF Point to Point transmitters all over each district. And most importantly monitor Statewide Lo Band as all MHP Units call in to the local SO's on a regular basis for 27/28/29 checks and will have District HQ call the SO's to have them turn the intoxilizers on.

Statewide Lo Band is 45.2200 MHz, Statewide Hi is 155.4900 MHz, and statewide Hi Car to Car is 155.7300 MHz

45.1000 MHz was used as Lo Band Dispatch by many SO's as are the following: 45.1400, 45.4200, and 45.1800. Very few of the SO's still use Lo band, except as backup for thier Hi band chans. Notable exceptions are as follows: Copiah County-45.1400 Ops/45.2600 Car to Car, Scott County which has reupped for lo band 45.1400/45.2600.
The mobile freq counterpart to 45.1000 is 45.3400.

Update for online scanner

Latest Update:
Expect first rial runs in late July.
Will be broadcast streaming but can't do 24/7.
Will be using Shoutcast to broadcast: www.shoutcast.com
Will use WinAmp 1 to send in to the server, and I use WinAmp 5 to monitor.
There are several live scanners on Shoutcast, including Atlanta 800, DeKalb County, etc.. Stamford, CT's EDACS is on there.

More as it gets growing.

Oh and for the Natchez area, I forgot a very important one:
39.5000 Interop for MHP with LSP. Most of the MHP units in District 9 have this programmed in the mobiles so they can talk to LSP units. Many Natchez PD units also still use hi band to communicate to VPD, and CCSO.

I checked out the shoutcast website. Maybe its just me, but I don't understand what all you have to do to host something like this. If it is easy, I might do something for my County Fire Dispatch for our former FFs that have moved off. I have a spare scanner that is available. Shoot me a PM or e-mail, MILF or whoever else that can explain it to me.

Thanks,

In a nutshell: Get a scanner that has a PC interface port,.. get the software to run siad scanner, get winamp 1, then dl the software from shoutcast to run online with them. If you have a good pc and it can handle being dedicated to the scanner then even better. As for me, I will be running only for say six or so hours a night till I can get a second line or they actually get a DSL server for my county. Luckily the PRO 2052 has a serial interface port making it easy to do this. The way to do it for maximum benefit would be to buy server space somewhere and run the scanner through the server, or if you have a friend you can run it through would be even better. But for those of us who cant quite rig out that big a deal then just run with what you can and if you can set up for a 24/7 run then more power to you, as soon as I can dig up all my info i will zip you an e-mail.

I confess I am dumb

I went to SHOUTcast but find nothing to lead me to the scanner listening area. Where do I go and how do I get there?

Thanks.

McReb:

Do a search for scanners.. there are like 150 listed there, PS, Rail, Foriegn, and Airport ones, plus a couple of shortwave ones.

www.shoutcast.com then go to the search bar they have, type in scanner.
