Ok I am new, sorry. And I just spent the last thirty minutes in the search function searching "low and profile" but didnt find the answer I was looking for so if you can find a thread with the answer in call me a n00b and point me in the right direction.

So here is my question. I have a Kenwood TK-730 mobile radio I am putting into my truck. It is 45 watts and I am running VHF (obviously) around the 155.xx frequencies. But I need an antannae for it. I want it to be low profil but work well. I have very litte problem on one of my deptartments as we have an excellent repeater. But the other my repeater is about 20 miles away (very flat land between) and I have problems with reception on my Minitior V pager. I have not tried this radio yet though. The antennae cannot put any holes in my truck as it is my baby and I want to keep it nice. So cn I get the reception I need with a lo-pro or will I have to get something different. I am open to all suggestions but my truck is my truck first and a responce vehicle second (fire/EMS). Thanks for any input.

There is no such thing as "Low Profile" and "work well" in antennas on vhf-hi. If you want a low profile or stealth antenna for that band then you will have to make do with the performance pitfalls of such an antenna. The higher if frequency you go(such as uhf and above) the low profile antennas start working better due to the natural smaller dimensions of uhf and above antennas.

Drill a hole and mount a real antenna, either a 1/4 wave or a 5/8 wave (I'm not going to say which because I do not know your area and terrain). You can do it the right way or the half-assed way, your choice.

If you're not willing to do it right, just leave the bloody thing at home.
