Loading Harris P25 Phase II system into BCD996P2

I loaded my scanner numerous times for a Project 25 Phase II system. It always comes over as a Mot Type II /P25, the county is using Harris Radio and not Motorola. Is this normal and what should I set the FreeSCAN site type for P25 Standard (digital XT) or P25 One Freq Trunk (digital XT). I seem to have tried everything without any luck and live within 3 miles of a tower?

I use freeSCAN for my 396XT on a Harris system and set it to Standard P25 (DXT) but I believe the Mot II will work but is actually an obsolete system. Harris systems require all the frequencies be entered as any one can be used as the control channel. Make sure you have the site(s) set to turn on with the system you want to monitor. I have my system set to QK 0 and the site is QK 0 also. Listing the radio model and system would also be helpful in diagnosing your problem.

I haven't used Freescan for programming P25 before, but I would say it should be "P25 Standard". As far as not hearing, simulcast is a big deal most of the time. The other factor is that it is a Harris system. I had trouble with that is the past.
Like others have said, please share your location and the system you are trying to monitor. That will be of great help.

the 396zt will not do phase 2 comms or never will, you need to upgrade to a 325p2 for that system to wotk.

What System are you attempting to monitor?

That's correct. You will need to upgrade to a phase 2 scanner. It would also help to know if this is a simulcast system.

The OP never stated which radio he has and the system I monitor with my 369XT operates in FDMA as well as TDMA mode.

Are you from Remington? I am in Brandy and can not figure this out, trying to program for Culpeper County and Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue. Does that help. Now trying Proscan and still very little coming over the radio, what is is not very clear.

Still need to know the scanner model. If not an SDS, the simulcast is likely going to be a reception problem regardless of your scanner settings.

OK. The 996 does not receive simulcast consistently, so if you're having reception issues, you're probably SOL unless you want to play around with an outdoor directional antenna.
