Hey guys,
I'm looking for a few good repeaters in the Montreal/Laval and surrounding areas. I have a Realistic Pro-2020 --> what can I get in my range?

Thanks :p,
Steven

Check out http://www.infoscan.urgence.qc.ca too, they have the best online database of quebec frequencies.

I hope you realize that over 90% of radio comms are in french in this province (almost 100% of police, fire and EMS are in french).

Oh and Laval fire/police is on an encrypted system so you can't listen to them, and Montreal FD is on a P25 digital system so your scanner won't pick it up. You can get Montreal police and the SQ which are in the clear...

The DB here isn't too bad. It has the RSP EDACS system (where you will find EMS for the Montreal area) and the Montreal SSIM system, which as noted is P25.

Since a 2020 doesn't even receive 800 MHz let alone track trunking systems, about all that is left is SPVM (Montreal cops) and some SQ (Surete du Quebec).

And ham radio and rail, air, and marine, of course.

As for the French language comms, I would hope anyone with a Canadian education could at least get the gist of the comms if not every nuance. The codes for police, fire and EMS are widely available and make it that much simpler ... assuming you can count to 100 in French.
