Today at 1500hrs, a local Police Chief was killed while working an off-duty traffic detail on Gene Snyder Freeway in Louisville. The Chief was following behind 3 slow moving State Highway trucks while they were doing road work. A large box truck vehicle struck all 4 vehicles, killing the Chief and seriously injuring 2 State Highway workers.

At this time, the name of the Chief has not been released publicly awaiting official notification of all family members.

Keep the Jefferson County Law Enforcement and Emergency Services community in your thoughts and prayers. As soon as it is public knowledge I will update this post.

Doug

Edited...The name has been released on the news. The deceased Chief was Randy Wells who was the only member of the Forest Hills Police Department. He had also worked for Jefferson County Sheriffs Office for some time. For those who live around Jefferson County, he was the officer that drove the white Camaro with the LED lights all over the interior.

God Bless Chief Randy Wells and his family.

A friend of mine lives up in that area and we both have seen him around and I've heard him many times on the radio running plate checks on the metro pd info channel.
