I am picking up talk on TGID's that RR says are not in that DB. Is there another source for finding talkgroup ID's other than RRDB?
Thanks in advance.

RadioReference will only have the talkgroups that have been submitted to the database.I am picking up talk on TGID's that RR says are not in that DB. Is there another source for finding talkgroup ID's other than RRDB?

I only listen to one system, so I have it programmed twice. One system is known TGs. The other system is the same only on Search mode. "The experts will tell you not to do this" but it doesn't matter if you only listen to one system. Each is on their own QK. I always like to find new TGs not listed and figure out who is using it
If the talkgroup is not programmed in a Favorites list, the scanner will simply label it as "unknown". There is no setting to have the double check the database "on the fly" & see if whether or not an unprogramed TGID is in the database. If it is one you do not care to monitor, then add it either in a Department that is set as Avoid, or add to any department, but set it as Avoid. Dallas (both city & county) are moving from Uhf & Vhf-high conventional channels to a P25 Phase II system. So, as the transition is in progress, I run across talkgroups that are not programmed when I am using ID Search. If I can identify how it is being used, by reviewing the database details, or listening to recordings to peg down the use, then I add it and can set it as Avoid, so that it does not continue to pop-up. I have a "Services" department, which contains the trash trucks, utility crews, and other non-public safety talkgroups. That Department is set as Avoid, so that these same "unknowns" don't keep coming up.I have to listen to 3 different systems to hear all relevant information. I am hearing an abundance of unknown tgid's so I look them up on RRDB and add them to my list. Some I put on permanent avoid. I don't need to hear what garbage trucks are doing.
I expect there's no way to change the unknown to the official name of the department. I will have to keep cheat sheet.
Too bad that's not possible. That would be one heck of a feature if it was available! There is no setting to have the double check the database "on the fly" & see if whether or not an unprogramed TGID is in the database.
To even think that other sources of frequency information exist is blasphemous, and will not be tolerated! You are hereby immediately penalized 100 Reaction Score points. Is there another source for finding talkgroup ID's other than RRDB?

I would love to specify Oklahoma for forums and any other advantage. Where do I make the request to have it moved, please?RadioReference will only have the talkgroups that have been submitted to the database.
When scanning a trunked system, using ID Scan will restrict reception (on that system) to only the TGIDs that are programmed and are not locked out (set as Avoid), and they are not in a Department that is set as Avoid.
ID Search will look for any active talkgroup, as long as it is not set to Avoid, and it is not in a Department set as Avoid.
You can switch between ID Search & ID Scan in the Options field on the system. For new systems, or ones that is adding talkgroups, I usually set the scanner to record everything. Then, when reviewing the audio files later, I may be able to identify who is using that TGID for what purpose.
If you are seeing unknown TGIDs, I presume that, based on the location in your profile, they are on one of the systems in your area, you might request that your thread be moved down to the Oklahoma forum. Someone local to you may have identified the user. If you can identify how that TGID is used, then submit that to the database.
Thank you, I just did that. Great information.in your last post, click on the report in the lower left and asked for it to be moved.
You wear very helpful with my issue and I thank you for that.i help where i can, even if it means saying someone else would be of better help !
