For years I have had my HP-1 in my car and have been very pleased with the performance. I just recently put the scanner in my office as I purchased another scanner with APCO 25 Phase II capability to put in my car. I put my HP-1 next to a window in my office figuring it would be the place for the best reception. I noticed that I was not picking trunking channels very well compared to my other scanners. I tried different antennas but still crappy reception. Was considering buying an outdoor antenna but thought to myself why my other scanners are picking up with no problem. So I decided to place the HP-1 in another location in my office and what do you know! It sits about 6 feet away from the window on my desk and is picking up channels quite nicely! Must be something near my window that messes with my reception!

I have 3. Using the features in the advanced addition it will show the power plot of a system. On a 700-800 mhz system a few inches can make it or break it.

It's pretty amazing how little a move can affect a weaker signal. Especially when you can see it.

Could also be adjacent channel interference. Maybe by the window is not the best choice...
