Locking out talk groups

Hello, this might seem like a stupid question to some but I have a 780 and run afs780 software Ive entered the talk groups Im intrested in hearing but I still receive the others Im not how do I prevent this from happening??? do I turn off search ? do I enter all and Lock out??

Not sure if this pertains to the 780. I have a PRO-95 that I am having the same problem. I want to lockout a couple of TG ID's. I locked them out using Win95, and checked to make sure they were locked out looking at the scanner and they were. I learned by searching all the forums here that for my scanner, I need to CLOSE the bank for them to really lockout. Maybe there is something similar for you scanner.

There is a similar feature in the Uniden and Radio Shack scanners. In the Uniden scanners, in a trunked system, there is an ID search and and ID scan mode. The ID search looks for active talk group IDs. However, I thought that if the TGID was locked out, it would be by passed in the search mode. Don't recall off the top of my head.

In the RS scanner, there each bank has an open and a closed mode. The open mode allows all active TGIDs to come up, even if they are locked out in the list. The closed mode only stops on TGIDs that are not locked out in the talk group list.

I just figured it out if search is off you will not pick up unentered tags so ..............Iknow my talk groups problem solved thanks guys

for the 780 press scan to scan for selected TGs, and press search to scan all active TGs wether they are locked out or not
