HCJB Ecuador is gone...

Sadly, I believe it is correct. I read a while back that HCJB had shut down their Ecuador transmitter site in October, 2009. Now, they purchase airtime from CVC who has a transmitter site near Santiago, Chile. It's really sad, because the HCJB Ecuador station had some of the most unique and sophisticated shortwave broadcast antennas in the world. It looks like "The Voice of the Andes" is no more...

That's weird. Why would HCJB in Ecuador, a pioneer in shortwave broadcasting, transmit from Chile to Chile? I don't doubt that's what the charts say, but I wonder if that's correct.
I'll have to tell 'yall my HCJB stories some day.
