So I recently got back on to the air with the callsign of vk7aal, I'm working on a VHF and UHF at the moment. I'm interested to find out if other people keep a log of all of their contacts? I know a lot of amateurs keep logs for things like contests and so on, but do you keep a log of all our calls just for their own purposes? I have started doing this and using my custom JASAROL (Just a Simple Amateur Radio Operator Log) to keep a record.

For me, I log all HF QSOs regardless of mode and all VHF/UHF QSOs that are digital and involve a DX station. On VHF/UHF, I do not log FM QSOs unless it is somehow unique such as a ducting event over an unusual distance. However, I do log all VHF/UHF QSOs that are made via meteor scatter, satellites including the International Space Station (ISS), etc. All contest QSOs are logged for reporting purposes after the end of a contest. I do log all QSOs that are with Special Event Stations. Finally, since I will QSL any request received that is in my logbook, I try to document any QSO that may result in a QSL request. Likewise, I will not QSL any request that does not appear in my logbook. Hope that helps you out in determining what you want to log. 73, Dave K4EET

I enter ALL HF QSO contact details into QRZ.com, and then send them to LOTW using the QRZ forwarding click on.
I also keep a paper logbook of HF contacts.

I usually only enter VHF/UHF QSOs if they have unusual content or DX. (To me DX= over 100 miles).

I don't necessarily note every contact. But I do write down interesting info. If they mention a unique antenna or equipment used. Or something interesting about them. No date and time. Just name and call and sometimes location. Generally no band or freq.

I log FT8 contacts but i don't log the same callsign more than once per band. I don't do HF voice that much but so far i have logged every contact. I have never logged VHF/UHF voice QSO's
