Doubtful with a funny story.........

I doubt that you will find anything, the Brits have a law that basically states that you can't listen to a frequency unless you hold a license to it. I found this on a British Q&A site.

The law (in the UK) is the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006. Section 8 states:
Licences and exemptions
(1) It is unlawful — (a) to establish or use a wireless telegraphy station, or
(b) to instal or use wireless telegraphy apparatus, except under and in accordance with a licence (a “wireless telegraphy licence”) granted under this section by OFCOM.

So unless there is a general exemption for a particular part of the spectrum, or there is a means of obtaining a licence for it from Ofcom, then it's illegal even to receive a radio signal.

And if anyone wants to get a definitive answer on which parts of the spectrum don't need a licence because of a general exemption, go to http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk and search using the term "wireless telegraphy". Happy reading! :)

Also I think most of the Brigades have moved to new Tetra (unmonitorable) systems.

About 10 years ago the wife and two friends were on a Scotland, Ireland and England trip. At the time she was still running active with our company so she had stopped by a London Station and was trying to wrangle a shirt/patch trade with the Firemen there. They didn't have anything to trade but they were more than happy to drop everything and entertain three hotties for an hour or so! They all had big smiles in the photos. Just as they were leaving the station the pump was dispatched on a smells and bells run, the crew called the girls back to the station and had them ride along to the call. It turned out to be burnt food in a dorm at a local college. My wife had the video rolling from the back of the crewcab, pretty cool footage. Once on scene she caught herself on tape asking one of the crew why the driver got out to speak to security about the situation and the officer stayed on the truck. When she turned the camera back toward the "officer" she noticed the steering wheel in front of him! Damned wrong sided limeys!
