LFD mentions a map zone in every dispatch, the numbers seem to run from 1 to maybe 100 or a bit more. I imagine this is a sort of grid overlay over the geographic map of the city, maybe not even aligned with city streets.

Would there be an electronic copy of this map somewhere available for download?

Not that I've seen, no. Basically, 1 is the far NW corner of the city (Hyde Park area) and it moves from left to right with the highest number being down in the SE corner of the city.

They have them on a nice board inside each fire hall. I use to have a photo of one long time ago, but that was a couple cell phones ago going back to 2011-ish. I'm sure as the city expands, they add to it and replace the old one. Try getting a tour at a hall and see what you see.

Zone Map Books is the FD's way of not having Mobile Data Terminals that would usually display a map of the call. It is a small book that has the city divided into zones. It allows FF to quickly source a map of the call area. Each zone takes up one page of the book. It shows all the street info as well I believe hydrant info. The books are usually taken out of service when new books are made and then FD personnel have a lottery to see who gets the old books.

As we all know, the more active a service is, the easier it is to understand things. There are many of us hobbyists who compile information from listening and hearing references, then mapping out where units are sent or transmitting from.
Or hearing a reference and a few days later hearing something else based off that reference. It's an uphill battle but when the information comes together, it's rewarding.
