By West Grove Fire Company March 2, 2011 On March 1, 2011, at approximately 3:30 am, the West Grove Fire Company (Stations 12 & 22) and the Avondale Fire Company (Station 23) were dispatched for a reported house fire on Rosehill Road in London Grove Township. The caller reported flames coming from the house. Chief 22 arrived on location, confirmed the report with heavy fire showing on Side C (the rear) of the structure and established Rosehill Command.

Engine and Ladder 22 arrived and set up, using a hydrant directly in front of the structure. Due to multiple reasons, it was decided that all operations would be defensive and no interior attack would be made. Ladder 22 was set up in the driveway and the main was placed into service. Additional arriving units were put to work using hand lines and a 2 1/2" "Blitzfire" master stream. Chief 22 then requested 2 additional engines, PECO and the Chester County Fire Marshals. The two additional engines brought Engine 21-1 and Engine 21-2 from the Union Fire Company, No.1 Oxford, PA (Station 21).

While crews were working to extinguish the blaze the structure partially collapsed. Fortunately no injuries occurred. Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the blaze with final crews clearing the scene at 07:30 am.

This is the second working house fire in London Grove Township within a week.

Thank You to Lancaster County Engine 511 for covering Station 12 and New Castle County Tanker 19 for covering Station 22.
