Hey all, a couple days ago long beach had a transformer fire and they told all standby units to use their old fg freq for any additional alarms. Does anyone know what that freq is?

They utilize NC M/A TAC-1 for fireground operations. The “old” F/G is also named “Tac-2” and is the listed Long Beach F/G in the database.

I don't think they do because their dispatcher hears them on their own FG. When they had a water rescue a few months ago, they told all units who were not communicating with the IC to use the NC M/A TAC 1 and to stop using LB FG

NC M/A TAC-1 is primary fireground and is monitored by the dispatcher. Long Beach F/G was renamed Long Beach Tac-2 and can still be monitored by the dispatcher.

If they are simplex channels how does the dispatcher hear it?

Depending how their system is set up, it could be one of a couple things. Either the DC is close enough to the scene, then they can pic up the signal at their antenna at the DC. Another could be a "voted receiver system" where you have several towers with receivers only that are telco lined back to a system voter, which then injects the strongest receiver signal to the scene into the radio console. Another way would be the FG is repeated back to the DC by a repeater system or simulcasted / broadcasted over another frequency. Just a few ways it can be done.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not from the area so I have no clue how their system is set up.
