I'm trying to collect beach-related frequencies for Long Island now that summer is here. I would really appreciate any contributions. (yes, I do bring my scanner to the beach but I don't swim with it. I probably would if they came out with a waterproof 396T)

I have seen SUVs and boats in the Point Lookout/Lido area marked Bay Constable that are clearly radio equipped. I believe it is the Town of Hempstead, but I have no frequencies. No close call hits yet. Anyone know where these guys are? I'm also looking for the Town of Hempstead beach lifeguards.

Here's what I listen to at the beach in Nassau:

Long Beach Police 154.740 DCS 703
Long Beach Fire Ops 460.0625 DCS 703
Long Beach Lifeguards/Beach Patrol 155.205 DCS 703
Town of Hempstead Department of Public Safety 155.010 DPL?
New York State Parks Police (Jones Beach) 159.420 DPL?
Jones Beach Lifeguards 159.225 (unconfirmed)
Nassau County Police Marine/Air Bureau 477.2875 179.9
Suffolk County Command (Highway/ESU/Marine/Air Bureau) 155.685 DPL?
N.Y.P.D. SOD/ESU/Air/Marine (but of course) 470.8375
Nassau County Police 4th/5th Precinct 477.2125 179.9
Nassau Fire Dipstach 46.100
U.S. Coast Guard NYC ops 164.9125
U.S. Coast Guard (visit Marine monitoring at www.n2nov.net)

Looking for:
Town Bay Constables and Lifeguards for Towns of Hempstead and Oyster Bay, and to confirm Jones Beach Lifeguard/Beach Patrol frequencies. Any other interesting marine beach-related public safety frequencies.

Thanks in advance and happy scanning!

I'm also very interested, as I am at the beach nearly every weekend, so if anybody could add anything it would be great.

geek,

My notes show...

"Town of Hempstead Department of Public Safety 155.010 DPL?"

Should read PL 107.2

"New York State Parks Police (Jones Beach) 159.420 DPL?"

Should read PL 123.0

"Jones Beach Lifeguards 159.225 (unconfirmed)"

159.225 is not a Parks & Recreation frequency; it's an EnCon (DEC) frequency.

"Suffolk County Command (Highway/ESU/Marine/Air Bureau) 155.685 DPL?"

Should read PL 146.2

"N.Y.P.D. SOD/ESU/Air/Marine (but of course) 470.8375"

Add PL 136.5

Jones Beach Park Police is not a strong signal, and you will need to be fairly near the beach to receive it - fairly close the the Meadowbrook for example. Obviously, it is most active on nice days in the summertime.
Long Beach PD is very strong and I can hear it all over Nassau and Eastern Queens.

I think Jones Beach Guards are on 159.390, still trying to confirm. Still no luck on the Town of Hempstead Guards.

This could easily become a wiki article (hint hint Ben). Then when the list is stable, assuming this stuff isn't in our database, it can be submitted en masse

1.NYS Park Police use talkgroup 1008 on the Suffolk County 800 MHz Motorola Trunked radio system.

2. 159.420R 123.0 and 159.420 167.9 is used by NYS park Police

3. 159.390 is used at Jones Beach (500 series) and Robert Moses (600 series) with a CTCSS of 167.9 I think. The PSR (Public Safety Rangers), EMS, Adminidtrative Officials, etc. use this frequency, as well as the Park Police (I think) when they are assigned in the park.
