I currently run a long wire sloping from over 20ft (approx) down to 5ft . No balun.

This long wire is fed from the centre core of a 50ohm coax the goes into the house. Receiver end is ground via a separate earth rod. Between the coax end and receiver input I have MFJ Receiver Antenna Tuner/PreAmp (hence no balun.

More recently the long is is now passing through tree foliage/branches at the remote end.

So what I'm contemplating is:

1) Running the long wire at 20ft high with a mid point "L" 90 degree turn ending up free of foliage/branches and also at a height of 20ft

2) Using a long wire dipole in a 90 degree set-up. My concern here is that then end of one of the dipole limbs will run along the house roof line and outside a bedroom used as an office so computers / monitors / etc.

3) The alternative to 2) is a 45 degree angled dipole. This would use the "L" support points.

Would be interest in people's views/experience.
