Confirmed today that TG 9520 is in fact Longmont SWAT and it's full-time encrypted. It's programmed into their radios as Bank C, Channel 16.

Longmont SWAT and the BOCO Bomb Squad are on TAC1 DTRS right now (12:20 AM Friday morning) and everything so far has been in the clear..no encryption. No idea what's going on or the location, just turned my scanner on. They've had the Bomb Squad robot searching a house, but it turned over and is immobile now.....

Oh, well so sorry, I'll just not post about anything here anymore....make sure I don't break anymore rules!

While RadioReference continues to broadcast hundreds of police feeds that will probably cause all departments to go encrypted someday!

Now that it's over, it's safe to discuss.

I first started hearing BOSO being paged to Longmont around 9:00pm. LEU was dispatched about 9:30. An RTD bus was requested about 9:45. A "peace keeper" (I don't know if I heard that correctly) was dispatched shortly after that. I haven't seen any news, so I wonder if it was an exercise.

From my perspective (and from that of many other long-time scanner listeners around here), it's an officer safety issue in these cases. A SWAT operation is completely different than anything else in that LE has to maintain the element of surprise to safely complete their objective most of the time. While it would probably be extremely rare for someone to actively get information on what's happening from a forum like this, with officer safety on the line, I prefer not to take any chances. That's why I don't discuss ongoing SWAT ops, give SWAT frequencies that are in the clear, etc.

My take on this isn't the same as everyone's on the board, and I'm not sure what the RR policy is... Just my 2 cents.

Hey all.

I just started streaming Longmont PD. Extra scanner, extra laptop, why not? Good to see that people are actually listening to it as they are almost always a couple of people streaming it!

Anyway, any idea on when I will need to invest in a trucking scanner to keep providing this feed? Seems like they'll probably simulcast for a while maybe?

Regards,

Marek

Not sure how much time you have before they get rid of VHF, but I believe Jim has stated in previous threads he would be willing to donate a digital scanner to someone who wanted to host a feed.

Correct me if I'm wrong Jim....

(He says after his feed has been down half the day:) well, that would be pretty cool!

I've gotta figure out why the feed keeps going down. Nothing on the computer reflects that anything's awry...

Has Longmont FD gone to use on the DTRS yet? I've been logging again the last couple nights and I get Longmont PD 1 coming in on Gunbarrel, Thorodin and Lookout (I can't hear the Longmont site or Mead site). If it has moved to DTRS and doesn't show up on a sight I can hear I'm out of luck so I'm hoping they haven't moved yet! By the way I heard Gunbarrel above 70% decode rate last night and today I can't even get a lock on it so hopefully they show up on one of the others!

You are completely right, but realistically this one thing is like a few drops of the water we all use in a morning shower; and besides nowadays the US seems to be all about making money & instant gratification. :(

Also, for those who say it is OK as long as it is not in real time, I beg to differ. All the Chiefies don't care so much about hearing all the details of their guys' adventures in a public venue ANYTIME.

You did - I remember now. I just searched Longmont and got to this thread. I've been logging again but haven't heard Longmont FD on Thorodin or Bald.

From listening to PD traffic weekdays at the daytime job there are some DTR dead spots in the city.

I can see why the FD is no big hurry to switch.

Radios showing up are likely to be accidental key-ups and monitoring neighbor agencies tactical TG's such as Mountain View, Berthoud, Weld and Boulder Mountain Fire.
