In our local auction and picked up locally too, a Barlow-Wadley XCR-30 for a measly NZ$81, say US$60-ish.
The forerunner to the FRG7 and others, designed by the same Dr. Wadley who worked for Racal and designed the synthesizer for the RA17 series. About 1974 according the serial numbers, quite rare, only about 20,000 made I believe in South Africa. Didn't get exported much as it was at the time when South Africa was embargoed by many countries. Rather dirty, batteries had leaked, fortunately not over the PC board, a bit of phosphoric acid cleaned up the rust. All clean now, reassembled and all good. Slightly off frequency, about 10kHz low and I haven't got my head around the realignment instructions yet. Reasonable reception on SSB of Auckland Aero on 8867 mid afternoon, Radio Aus on 17840kHz better than my Degen 1103!
