Hello Group,
I am looking for an easier way to decode 2-tone Moto (fire) pager tones.

I have been using a couple of FFT based programs, playing in a .WAV file and decoding the freqs on the spectrum display. Also tried a frequency counter (software) with a looped segment of the tone (in another program). It was only accurate to +/-15 Hz though.

Basically both methods are a pain in the butt.

Anyone know of a shareware program that will grab the tones in real time or from a .wav and display the 2 freqs?

There is probably an IC out that will do it; I have seen some pretty cheap handhelds out lately that have that feature. (Kenwood 2160/3160, for example)

Hello,
Actually, I'm looking for a software based one but if I can find a firmware one, or kit w/PCB I'll build it.

Dave I think Audacity would do this. It's free and multi-platform, and there's a writeup in the FTO wiki as to how to use to measure tones.

best regards..Mike
