My SDS200 arrived yesterday - OMG, it picks up EVERYTHING - EVERYWHERE in my home! If you're new here go read about the issues I was having with the Northwest Ohio Regional Public Safety System and the Simulcast Distortion.
Since I had a Home Patrol 2 first, I was able to download Sentinel and program the SDS200 with no problem.
I want to thank EVERYBODY here who convinced me that the extra money was worth the quality and satisfaction. For anyone reading this looking to purchase a scanner and cringing at the SDS200 price tag, here is my advice.
I purchased a Home Patrol 2 which is a good scanner, BUT I was not able to pick up ANY simulcast transmissions with it at all.
I then purchased a BCD325P2 which is a good scanner, and was able to pick up SOME simulcast transmission, BUT I had to have it a single spot on my end table and if I moved it an inch or two one way or the other I lost the signal due to what was described to me here as a Simulcast Distortion.
I finally listened to those here who know what they are talking about and purchased an SDS200. I now have a scanner that works - anywhere.
Moral of the story - I should have used the money I spent on a Home Patrol 2 and BCD325P2 on my SDS200 in the first place!
