Anyone care to take the time to make me a custom file? I haven't picked up a scanner in a decade and my first experience is with the HP1. Since I wanted Maryland State Police I quickly realized I wanted the new 536. Just picked it up today. I travel a bit locally and would like 4 state police agencies and a few counties in Maryland including fire, police and ems. I figure it will take me a year to figure out how to use this. So in the meantime I would like to enlist the help of a knowledgeable programmer to help me out and would be willing to send them a payment as a thank you. I am not sure of the capabilities of this unit but I would like to be able to turn on select agencies as I travel and hopefully even be able to overlap them. I am considering a uniden gps if that will help any. So if anyone out there has the time to take on a hard case who is a dumb as a jar of peanut butter pm me and I can explain to you what I have in mind

I'm in somewhat the same position as you, I haven't used or owned a scanner before, but I just watched a few videos that helped tremendously.

What I suggest is making a few favorites lists based on the area you are in
For example
F0 can be contain a city in Maryland
and F1 can contain another city.
So if you're in between cities you can leave both on, and it will scan both.
If you want to turn one off, you just press the number of the favorites list on the keypad and it will disable it (seen in the video)

The GPS will save you from having to manually turning the Favorites lists on/off when you move from area to area. If you get the GPS, all you should have to do is turn it on with the GPS plugged in, and you will hear audio from your selected agencies (Fire, EMS, can be turned off individually) and the scan range in miles you selected.

Actually, the 536 programs in favorite lists like the HP-1. In fact, you can import your favorites lists into the x36 Sentinel software!
