I have a Bearcat 560 XLT scanner that I want to mount in my truck. I am looking for suggestions on a good mobile antenna that will cover a wide range of frequencies. The two that I keep hearing are the Austin Spectra and Laird Atenex. What are your opinions?

Hi josh5629 and welcome to RR.

I'm giving a thumbs up to the Austin Spectra. I have owned one since 2006 and used it on a variety of cars I've owned. I am pleased with how it performs with my Uniden BCD396T and would not hesitate to recommend it.

The large spring at the base gives the antenna lots of flexibility and it handles highway speeds and trips through the car wash with no problem. I have it mounted on my car with the trunk lip mount but there are many other mounting options also.

It is a bit on the pricey side, but in my opinion it's one of the best multi-band antennas out there.

I hope this helps, and if you have more questions, just ask.

Russell
