Looking for antenna suggestion for college dorm

Its that time again to move back to college. The past few years I have been using a glass mounted scanner antenna and I want to try something with a little less signal loss and something I wont have to toss in the trash when I move back home.

It will probably be mounted to the outside on the building, no mast, and can't be too conspicuous. My room faces the woods so I think I can get away with bolting something to the window frame but I dont want to push my luck.

I have been leaning towards a scantenna but they are just way too big.

If you have a metal file cabinet, etc., then you can try a mobile magnet mount antenna - should work fine esp. if you are on an upper floor.

A good mobile antenna with some ground radials (of almost any length) works fairly well.

You can hide it in the Pot plant growing on the window sill. :lol: :twisted:

I used a magnetic mount all band antenna on top of a metal file cabinet. Later in my college career, I had access to the attic area of the dorm and placed a Radio Shack Discone antenna up there.

Not an antenna suggestion, but remounting pads are available for most manufacturers' thru-glass antennas. All you throw in the trash are the two old mounting pads.
