I have a wireless assisted listening device for music in concert halls, 72 Mhtz and I've tried all sorts of brands. Typically, they are super cheap, have no antenna (the ground wire on the headset acts as an antenna) and suffer from drift and static

I would be interested in hearing from you experts what you consider to be the best sounding pocket receiver/scanner.

I've been told that the Icom R7 is the best sounding receiver, but alas it is no longer available, and searches in eBay have turned up nothing.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Regards,

The R7 was a GREAT sounding receiver, but in headphones only. The speaker audio was just really weak, which was frustrating since for it's size, you'd want to take it outdoors.

I think you'd like the R6, which has decent speaker sound, although it too could be a little stronger - but usable as is in moderately quiet settings.

I have the R5 and R6 and they both have good audio for their size (from the built in speaker, as well as the earphones), plus considering that they are communications receivers and not "audio" devices per se.

The R6 is also a sensitive receiver.
