What system is being used by Suffolk County? As RR shows conventional, trunked and P25, when I program my radio I don't want to put old/unused stuff in it, and it's not clear on what is being used. Could someone please help?

Suffolk County what? Police? They are simulcast right now on the old system (Type II) and also on the 800 side of the new P25 system.
Notes from the DB:

Fire is all conventional with very little on the new P25 system.

The majority of departments that use FRES as their primary dispatch are on the trunked systems using either ops 3, or their designated townwide talkgroups ( Riverhead 1 etc)

Not everybody is on board with FRES. Which adds to the complexity.

Departments that use FRES from start to finish are all over the place. For FD's - UHF Paging West has been up and running, paging east is still on low band 46.46. Huntington area depts dispatched by FRES use Huntington 1 or 2. Islip depts have all their own dispatchers. I've seen Smithtown depts dispatched by FRES hop back and forth between Smithtown Township UHF and Smithtown-1 talk group on the 800mhz. Brookhaven depts are on FRES Ops 3, they should be moved over to Brookhaven-1 on the 700/800. Riverhead depts use 800mhz Riverhead-1, and Riverhead Amb uses Riverhead-2 on the 800 to talk with their PD dispatcher due to coverage issues with their UHF. 7-1o Div's all have their own dispatchers/systems.

Amb Companies are still activated by FRES on VHF 155.280 - with all other comms on 700/800mhz.

I think the plan going forward, all FD comms to FRES will take place on the Township Talkgroup-1 in that respective division. I don’t see FRES monitoring every single township talkgroup, it’s too much.

Amb comms to FRES will continue on Medcom West or Medcom East.

FD paging by FRES will be on UHF paging West and eventually UHF Paging East
Amb Co paging by FRES will remain on VHF 155.280

And most all agencies in the county have their own UHF or VHF systems. They either have their own Dispatcher, or use another agency. Some agencies have FRES activate them if the call comes through FRES, then that agency will take over.

FRES doesn't dispatch too many agencies from start to finish. None in the 1st. 1 FD in the 2nd. All of Fire Island. 3 FD's in the 4th. A handful of FD's in the 5th. 2 FD's in the 6th. 3 FD's in the 7th. 8-10th Divisions have their own. FRES also handles a few EMS agencies in mostly Islip and Brookhaven, and 1 in the 7th.

As far as the trunked systems listed, for FRES or Police, which one is used, or are both still used?

You will hear all police activity on the 800 Simulcast (site 4), all precincts, command band, and others (i.e. Riverhead PD etc.)
