So here is the low down, EPI911 Emergency is a Distributor and Manufacture of numerous products for LEO and First Responders. As such, were more involved in Developing our own Lighting, Consoles, Warning Products and will leave the Communications to the ones who do it best. So Im looking for your feedback, complaints, and praise of the GRE Com product line.

Currently we have access to sell/distribute to our dealers and local depts Uniden, GRE, and Motorola. After talking to one of our dealers in the USA they have made some comments that make me wonder what other people think about their GRE scanners.

We are not looking to make this our main field of focus, however just a side offering for the needs of depts/agencies, and their first responders for POV use and Fleet useage.

So please let me know what you think, how well have your GRE radios faired daily use, how long have they lasted and would you buy another one again?

I thank you in advance.

(in my opinion)

Positives - Great product support, fast customer service (emails are replied to promtly), good scanners, great digital audio "out of the box", many advanced menu features/options not on Uniden, TRUE multi-site scanning.. Radio ID's!!! good price compared to the Uniden's (read below for re-sale value)

Negatives - Bulky scanner (based on older brick sized scanner), programming takes a bit to get use to for a newbie (but once you get use to it its great), some early problems on the 500 with blue light and loose screws (literally), but seem to be worked out.

Re-sale value NOT the very high on GRE scanners, compared to the Uniden (from my experience)users will say give me Uniden - but maybe more due to the fact that most buyers (not on this site) are only use to Uniden and dont know GRE), or that the Pro-106 is routinely on sale, users dont want to shell out $500+ for a GRE when the Pro-106 "was $299 last year"

again all my opinion/experience, others may very

GRE makes very good products.

The only way for you to go is to sell them to your customers pre-programmed for the systems they want to listen to. You will have to do some extra work to make your customers happy and charge for the programming. The GRE PSR600 is the way to go. Program it with Win500 using info from this site. The California Highway Patrol went with the GRE so it must be a good choice.

Resale shouln't be an issue. This is first time sale. The programming will be the hard part for the professional market.

True your right.. but he also asked for a general opinion on how they faired... well my re-sale value didnt fair well compared to Uniden's =)

The original poster should also note Durham Radio/Lectron has these radios for $549 CDN (Lectron is free shipping too I believe), so if they are going to sell them for more they might have a tough time.

Well for now we are aware of Lectrons Prices, we will be more than competative especially for the Canadian Customers and Market. We are going to be the same as the USA Pricing and we will be including Programing for the Units with the first launch at no additional charges.

We will be we hope more than competative for even the USA customers, for example the PSR600 we will be selling them here to Canadians for $499 programed, so same as the USA dealers, however we will not be including shipping even so this is a minimal charge of aprox $15/20.

That being said we will be having a launch sale on the PSR-600 of $475US/CAD. Including Programing. We are working out the prices for the other scanners as we speak and the sale prices. We will try to support and push the product as best as we can. And like many have mentioned here, PRAY they come out with some "better looking models" I have to say I have a hard time tossing the Uniden 996T in favour of the PSR600 just due to the appearance, it looks too 1980's to me. BUT I do like the features, Im huge on price and value and we hope that the GRE Products will add to our lineup well.

I thank you for your comments, and feedback they are much appreciated!!

That sounds like a very good price for Canadians wanting a GRE Scanner. Please keep us updated as to when they will be available.
