Looking for help on what to buy (Do I get Analog or Digital) I pasted what is used here based on the Internet

Hi Everyone I am old to the game of communication and new to the game of Police Scanners. I am looking for help to get the right police scanner to listen in and broadcast from Emeryville Police Department in California. I am not sure if a analog scanner will do the job or if I need a Digital scanner. As I don't want to make a mistake and I don't want to over pay I was hoping someone could help educate me on what to buy, will it work... etc etc etc...

You need a digital scanner that is capable of P25 Phase I trunking. Anything else will be useless for listening to this trunked system. Happy scanning, good luck.

The 996XT base or 396XT handheld will work well on that system.

Actually if you want to get any life out of it, you need a scanner capable of P25 *Phase II*. EBRCS was supposed to be phase II already, but COVID-19 delayed it a bit. It will happen, though. The last target I heard was the end of October.
