Last night there was a fire in the area and I discovered that I wasn't hearing all the transmissions. I have a 100-channel Uniden. So I made a list of all the frequencies that are programmed into the scanner. Then I cross-checked it against what is listed on this website. I found that there are numerous frequencies programmed into my scanner that I have no idea what they are. I came here to do a search to find out what these frequencies are. I got an error message saying that I needed to be registered. So I registered and tried the search again. I got another error message saying that I needed a premium account.

Now, I'm just an old woman on a fixed income, who enjoys listening to the scanner. All I want to do is "clean up" my scanner and get rid the frequencies that I don't need and add ones that I do need. Is there a website that I can go to and get this information for free?

Hi and welcome to RadioReference, the databases here are free, just click on Database at the top, then select your state, then select your county. They only cost money if you want to do searches or use to import the data into scanner programming software. The reason you may not have heard all the traffic is because a lot of the radio traffic for your area might be on the Indiana state SAFE-T system now. If you can provide us with your county, I'm sure someone here can help you.

You do have to be a premium subscriber to use the search by frequency feature. You can look up all the information in the database for free, however. Also, if you post what county you're in and what model scanner you have, people will be able to offer more info.
