Can anyone point me to a site that has R30 files, either .icf or .csv format?

Looking specifically for milair, or satcom. I have these in frequency lists, just trying to save time by not having to type them by hand.

TIA

Afternoon,

I don't have any that would be useful for your area but I have attached a CSV (renamed as a txt file so it works for upload...)that you could populate with the data you want and it *should* open properly if you transfer it onto the SD card in the radio and import the CSV there.

Regards

Piggly

You can make them right here on Radio Reference. Go to the database, find what you're looking for, and being that you are a Premimun member you can download the data in a .csv format.

I'm aware of that capability and might head that direction if I don't find any "tried and true" files from the midwest. Thanks for the reminder though.

Was not aware of this. So once you download the data, it will import to the R30? I bought the Icom software and copy/paste into a file. Time consuming but got the entire state P25 freqs in one file. Took me a few weeks to do this.

Well I do know you can download a .csv file as the OP was requesting. I'm not sure if ICOM, or RT System's software will import a .csv file, it's a very common format so it's very likely. The OP didn't say what software he was using.

What I meant was that you can use the file I provided as a basis in which to put your frequency lists (rename it as a CSV and open in the spreadsheet software of your choice) and then you *should* be able to stick it on the SD card and import it directly to the radio.

Gotcha, thanks a bunch.

I use CS-30 all of the time. Here is how you get IMPORT and EXPORT available.

Open CS-30

Click on NEW to create an "ICF" file
Populate Group00 with at least one entry
Populate Group01 with at least one entry
Populate as many more groups as you want
Save what you created

OR

Open an existing "ICF" file on your hard drive.

Now Click on the Folder called Memory CH to expand it
Then Click on any populated Group

And both IMPORT and EXPORT will appear in the drop down menu.

I would then suggest that you EXPORT your temporary "creation" to your hard drive. That will show you the format the CSV file must be in when you try to IMPORT a CSV file into CS-30

One of the things you will see quickly is the order of the columns in the exported file is not the same order as what Radio Reference creates when you "save" a CSV file from RR.

One more suggestion -

Create an "ICF" file that has at least one of each type of frequency you want to listen to.

Example - one entry for AM Analog Airplane, one entry for FM Analog that has a TONE setting, one entry for P25, one entry for NXDN, etc.

That way you will see where all of the fields lineup across the CSV entries and what goes into a field. Then EXPORT the file.

But the OP said he doesn't want to spend hours typing in the data.

If you have a file with the data you want to put into your Icom , then if you make that into a .csv file and then manipulate the data columns to match the .csv format of G7RUX's especially with regard to blank columns then it will work - I say 'will'! I have done it with files for the Winradio G33 but just make a small file to test it before you go the whole hog with a huge file, but ensure your format is correct. It only takes one small error and it wont work - even something seemingly insignificant like the date in the wrong format.

Hey Dudley,

Yep, discovered that feature this morning not long after posting about greyed out import/export.

So, I had a couple of csv files I tried to import but cs-r30 says illegal data. I'm pretty sure the arrangement isn't Icom compatible so I'll create some export files to see what i need to do. It would be nice to be able to fix my two csv files with a few keystrokes but my luck usually doesn't go that direction.

That is one of my problem files. As he instructed I renamed it to .csv and tried to import it, got the illegal data window. But, like most new things it is a challenge and educational process combined.

The thing to do then is to just make a small .csv file from, say, the top 5 lines of his file and see if that runs. Can you see his file using Excel just to make sure it's not got corrupted somewhere? When you look at it with Excel all the commas have been changed into blank squares and they must be there or else your R30 will just spit it out. I have one control programme that you have to load the *txt file into Excel and then save it as a *csv - just changing the suffix doesn't work.

Like this....

Note that the entry for squelch varies. It is "0" for the G303 series and "-120" for the G33.
It is not possible to make a new entry from the programme into the database, you can only edit an existing one. Therefore it's advisable to make a number
of dummy entries in the database. Just enter something in columns A to E and the same data into L, Mand N as already in there.
If the date doesn't register properly, check that in "Region and language" the date is set to yyyy-mm-dd.
Save the spreadsheet as a TAB delimited text file, then change the *.txt to xls in the RDBM folder.

See message #2 above. The author said it was a csv file that he changed to .txt so it would upload here. I'll open it in excel to see what it looks like.

Thanks for the hints.

That's interesting, it is a csv direct from the radio, just renamed so it would post on the forum...

You could also try the mailing list at groups.io below and see if folks there are willing to share files
