I have just started monitoring railroad but I can't really understand what they are saying. They seem to have there own lingo. What does RER mean? I have tried google and found nothing. Anyone maybe have any links to webpages helping a newbie understand railroad lingo. I am also interested in any frequencies anyone might have specific to my location which is Santa Rosa county, FL. I already have the database frequencies:

CSX Railroad 160.32000**
CSX Railroad 160.39500
CSX Railroad 160.78500
CSX Railroad 160.89000
CSX Railroad 161.10000
CSX Railroad 161.37000**
CSX Railroad 161.41500
CSX Railroad 161.52000
**Frequencies I have logged some activity on

I would like to put some names/tags to some of these frequencies. I have heard the Blackwater swing bridgetender on 161.370 but the bridgetender is licensed on about 5 frequencies does he use other frequencies or should I expect to only hear him on 161.370? Maybe someone from this area can help me put some alpha tags to these frequencies and share any frequencies I don't have listed here.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You in advance best regards
Tom

I can help ya out. The 160.320 mhz is AAR Ch.14 the Dispatcher channel and 161.370 is AAR Ch.84 the Road Channel . 160.785 is AAR Ch. 45 or the Maintance of Way . On the blackwater draw (Swing Bridge) You'll hear him mostly on 84 but when he's getting on or off duty he check's in with the Dispatcher on Ch.14 which the dispatcher is located in Jacksonville FL. to give him the current status of the bridge like Blackwater draw is lined and locked for Rail traffic. Hope this helps and I railfan that rail line that goes through Milton .
