Hi everyone, I'm looking for a list of scanners that will pick up Viper in McDowell co NC. I'm very new to this and loved it in the past. But now it's data cables etc... any help would be awesome. I saw older threads but I'm sure there are a lot of new scanners out there. Programming will be a different story. LOL

I have not been there in 2 years but it still looks like a Phase 1 P25 system. I used my BCD996XT and it worked great, and it looks like it still would.
As long as they stay Phase 1 P25 you could use an BC796D if you wanted, but there is always a chance they will go P25 Phase 2 in the future.

VIPER is requiring all radios on the system to be P25 Phase 2 capable by 2025, many sites already have, but are not using, Phase 2 licenses. If you are looking for cheap Phase 1 scanner will work for now, if you want long term go with a Phase 2.

Uniden 536 does a good job on Phase I and Phase II scanning. A little pricey but good unit

I use the sds100 in Charlotte because of simulcasting . But viper works great on any scanner . Charlotte should have used viper and not another service .

me personally i would go with uniden either the 436 or sds 100 for handhelds. i had a whistler trx1 and it just didnt track worth a flip for me on viper. after some work to get viper programmed into the 436 it runs perfectly for me
